About TEAM11+

Taught by someone who has done this many times before.

TEAM11+ is led by Tooba Mohsin, a specialist 11+ tutor with over 13 years of consistent success preparing children for selective and grammar school entrance examinations.

Her experience covers the examinations that matter to families here — Redbridge and Kent GL papers, the Latymer School's GL assessments, the Essex CSSE, and the FSCE used by Chelmsford County High School for Girls. Each has its own style and timing, and children are prepared for the paper they will actually sit.

She teaches pupils in Years 3, 4 and 5, in person near Ilford Lane or online. The teaching is warm and encouraging; the preparation is serious. Parents know where their child stands, and children know what is expected of them.

Target schools

Preparing pupils for leading selective schools.

Each of these schools sets its own entrance examination with its own emphasis and timing — GL papers in Redbridge, Kent and at Latymer; the CSSE and FSCE in Essex. Preparation at TEAM11+ is shaped around the schools a family is actually targeting, rather than a single generic syllabus.

CSSE 11+ preparation

11+ preparation

What we cover.

Six strands, taught together rather than in isolation. Programme details can be tailored once we know a child's target schools and current stage.

01

English

Comprehension, inference, vocabulary, grammar and written composition — the areas that most often separate candidates.

  • Reading for meaning, not just detail
  • Vocabulary built deliberately
  • Writing planned and finished in time
02

Mathematics

Number, fractions, ratio, algebraic thinking, geometry and multi-step problem solving, worked to examination standard.

  • Secure method before speed
  • Word problems decoded reliably
  • Careless-error habits corrected
03

Verbal reasoning

The full range of question types, taught as recognisable patterns so that a child knows exactly what is being asked.

  • Question types named and drilled
  • Word knowledge under time pressure
  • Logic and code questions
04

Non-verbal reasoning

Sequences, rotations, reflections, analogies and matrices — approached methodically rather than by guesswork.

  • A repeatable method for each type
  • Spotting the rule quickly
  • Eliminating wrong options
05

Examination technique

How to read a question properly, when to move on, how to manage the clock, and how to check work that has already been done.

  • Pacing across a full paper
  • Answer-sheet discipline
  • Staying calm when a question is hard
06

Mock & practice papers

Full papers sat under examination conditions, marked in detail, with the feedback used to direct the following weeks' teaching.

  • Realistic conditions and timing
  • Detailed marking and review
  • Weaknesses turned into next steps
Our approach

Five stages, in order, every time.

11+ preparation works when it follows a sequence. Each stage depends on the one before it, and no child moves on until the ground beneath them is secure.

01

Assess

We begin by understanding where a child actually is — current attainment across English, mathematics and reasoning, and the specific areas needing development. Target schools are agreed with parents at this point.

02

Build

Core skills come first. Gaps in number work, comprehension or vocabulary are closed properly, because examination technique layered over shaky foundations does not hold up on the day.

03

Practise

Children then work through examination-style questions until the formats are familiar and the methods are automatic. Verbal and non-verbal reasoning are taught as recognisable patterns rather than puzzles.

04

Refine

Marked work shows exactly where marks are being lost. Accuracy, speed and checking habits are tightened, and remaining weaknesses are addressed individually rather than glossed over.

05

Succeed

In the final phase the emphasis shifts to composure: full timed papers, sensible pacing and the quiet confidence to walk into the examination hall knowing what to expect.

Why TEAM11+

Preparation that takes the examination seriously.

Eight things parents tell us matter most when choosing where to send their child.

Specialist 11+ expertise

Not general tutoring with some 11+ attached. This is the whole focus of the practice.

Years of experience

A tutor who has guided many children through this stage, and knows how it unfolds.

Structured preparation

A clear sequence from assessment to examination, so nothing important is left to chance.

Individual progress focus

Each child's marked work drives what they are taught next, rather than a fixed weekly script.

Technique & confidence

Children learn how to sit an examination, not only how to answer the questions in it.

Proven track record

Excellent results over many years of preparing pupils for competitive selective schools.

Focused learning groups

A working environment where every child is known, and no one is able to drift.

Parent communication

You will know how your child is progressing, what is improving, and what still needs work.

FAQs

Questions parents ask first.

Most families begin around Year 4 or early Year 5, which allows core skills to be built properly before examination practice starts in earnest. Children joining later can still be prepared effectively — the programme is adjusted to the time available, and we will be honest with you about what is realistic.

Preparation is focused on competitive selective and grammar schools in Redbridge, North London, Kent and Essex — including The Latymer School, Ilford County High School, Woodford County High School and Chelmsford County High School for Girls. That covers Redbridge and Kent GL papers, Latymer's GL assessments, the Essex CSSE and the FSCE. If your target school is not listed, please ask.

Yes. The Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex examination has its own format and demands, particularly in English, and pupils targeting Essex grammar schools are prepared specifically for it alongside their other target schools.

In-person lessons are held at the TEAM11+ centre, 128C Woodlands Road, Ilford, IG1 1JP — a short distance from Ilford Lane and easily reached from across Redbridge and East London. Online lessons are also available for families further afield.

For this term's timetable and current availability, please contact TEAM11+.

Progress is tracked through marked classwork and timed practice papers. Marking is used diagnostically: it shows which topics and question types are costing marks, and that determines what is taught next. Parents are kept informed of how their child is progressing and what is being worked on.

Please contact TEAM11+ for current fees and availability.

TEAM11+ currently teaches pupils in Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5, in person near Ilford Lane or online. Year 3 and Year 4 focus on building the underlying skills; Year 5 is the examination year, when preparation becomes far more intensive.
